Role Description: The Associate role is a full-time, on-site position based in Johannesburg. The Associate will support research, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement related to energy sector development and transition. Daily activities may include preparing briefs and presentations, coordinating meetings and events, and assisting with the drafting of reports and recommendations. The role also involves supporting the Project Management Office with administrative duties, gathering and analyzing data, monitoring relevant regulatory and industry developments, and supporting collaborative projects with member organizations and partners. The Associate will work closely with senior team members to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs that align with the Council’s strategic objectives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in energy, marketing, economics, public policy, engineering, environmental studies, business or a related field.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including industry representatives, government officials, and civil society organizations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in standard office and collaboration tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, online meeting platforms, workflow management platforms).
  • Interest in South Africa’s energy transition, sustainability, and related policy frameworks; prior exposure to the energy sector is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a collaborative approach to working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work on-site in Johannesburg and attend meetings, events, and engagements as required
